The 2021/2022 White Coat Ceremony and Swearing-in of new Veterinary Doctors was held on Saturday, July 16,2022 at the WACCBIP Conference room, Biochemistry Department, University Of Ghana.

The White Coat Ceremony is usually oraganised for the fourth year students to officially usher them into their Clinical years whereas the Swearing-In ceremony is organised for the graduated class to induct them into the professional body. 

Dr. Hope Richard Otsyina; Ag. Dean of School of Veterinary Medicine, during his welcome address took a moment to acknowledge the families, friends, and loved ones present ,explained the purpose and introduced the chairman for the ocassion.Prof. Abu Yaya; Ag. Dean of School of Engineering and chairman of the ceremony in his speech advised the students to be diligent in their practice. Various speakers took turns to share their experience with the incoming veterinarians and students alike.

                                                               

          

Students from the white coat class were led by Prof. Phyllis Addo to swear an oath  and were adorned  with white coats and stethoscopes. 

Citations were awarded to students who excelled in various courses.The awardees included:

1 .Victor Owusu was awarded the best student in Gross anatomy, Histology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Principles of animal breeding.
2. Sarfo King El-Shaddai was awarded the best student in Animal management, Physiology, Biochemistry.
3. Patrick Ansah was awarded the best student in Biochemistry.
4. Maxwell Baah-Asante was awarded the best student in Parasitology, General pathology, Principles of animal nutrition.
5. Agbeve Godfred was awarded the best student in Embryology
6. David Sarpong was awarded as the most outstanding student.

The overall best student, Victor Owusu, in his remarks enumerated the myraid of challenges , the achievements chalked in their academic pursiuts and assured all that the class will strife for better heights.

During the second part of the programme, the Ag. Dean of the school presented the newly graduated doctors to the Chairman of  the Veterinary Council of  Ghana, Dr. Jonathan Amakye. Dr. Amakye threw more light on the Veterinary practice and what was to be expected in their line of duty. He admonished that hardwork and commitment to practice was a catalyst to success in their chosen profession.He then led the group to swear the Veterinarian's Oath.

Prof. Abu Yaya, Chairperson for the ocassion in giving his closing remarks appreciated the efforts of both the white-coat class and the newly inducted Veterinarians.

Present at the ceremony were the Registrar of the Veterinary Council,The guest speaker, Dr. Darkwa, staff of the council ,the School's Administrator,Mrs. Susana Otu-Amoah Ofori, Faculty , and staff of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
