Prof. Paa Kobina Turkson, during the Christmas break, experienced a profound moment of clarity regarding his collection of clinical equipment and books. Recognizing the potential for these valuable resources to significantly benefit education and research at the School of Veterinary Medicine, he embarked on a diligent effort to prepare them for donation. This act of philanthropy culminated on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, as Prof. Turkson personally delivered the donated items to the school's library. His generosity and commitment to enhancing learning opportunities for students and faculty alike exemplify his dedication to advancing veterinary education and research.

Prof. Turkson reached out to the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Richard Dery Suu-Ire, via telephone to discuss his intention to donate his collection of clinical equipment and books. He further emphasized that this act of generosity was his way of ensuring that these valuable resources would continue to serve future generations of veterinary students.

The collection of books donated by Prof. Paa Kobina Turkson encompassed a diverse range, spanning various stages of his academic and professional journey. It included books acquired in 1978 during his inaugural year at the University, those generously gifted by colleagues, and a select few bearing his name—presented to him as tokens of appreciation by fellow students from Zambia. This carefully curated donation reflects not only Prof. Turkson's lifelong commitment to veterinary education but also the rich academic and professional relationships he cultivated over the years.

Professor Richard Dery Suu-Ire acknowledged that while Prof. Turkson's generous donation may have come as a surprise, he had anticipated such acts of philanthropy from esteemed alumni, faculty and friends of the school. He further emphasized the timeliness of this contribution, as the School of Veterinary Medicine and its hospital were currently facing a critical shortage of essential instruments for field practice. Prof. Turkson’s generosity, therefore, not only reflected his deep commitment to the institution but also provided much-needed support to enhance veterinary education and clinical training.

Prof. Suu-Ire assured him that the donated items would be utilized effectively and strategically to enhance the educational experience of current and future students.

Present at the donation ceremony were the Dean - Professor Richard Dery Suu-Ire, the School Administrator- Mrs. Susana Otu-Amoah Ofori, Faculty of the school -Dr. Sherry Johnson and Dr. Ayodeji Oni.
