This course will cover the current knowledge on infectious, non-infectious, metabolic and nutritional diseases of sheep, goat and cattle. This course aims to provide core competences in medicine of cattle, sheep and goats. By building on previous knowledge in general medicine, animal management and ruminant production, students will become competent in core principles of veterinary treatment of large and small ruminants. Primary emphasis will be placed on epidemiology, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment and control of specific diseases of economic and public health importance in the tropics. The course will also incorporate advanced herd medicine concepts that are critical for treatment of large groups of animals in a farm setting.
